Business branding: A decade of Love Lettering

One of the best things about photographing someone’s life and work is being able to look back at their journey over time.

I was lucky to meet Doris of Love Lettering through her sister, whose wedding I photographed over 10 years ago. She is a talented and creative handlettering artist who constantly pushes her art beyond lettering on just paper.

We’ve worked on many projects together, from creative collaborations to her published book, Extraordinary Handlettering.

Doris even created a custom piece for my wedding, which we still have to this day. She’s supported me throughout my photography career as a peer and as a friend and I’m forever grateful for her.

Another Day the Label: Fall/Winter 2023

Another Day the Label just released their women’s fall/winter collection, which includes their classic lounge set, long lounge set, and a sleep dress in taupe, black, and rose.

They’ve also added K-beauty products like the Romand: Glasting Melting Balm, COSRX: Acne Pimple Master Patch, and Round Lab: Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Stick (SPF50+).

Food and drink: Maru Bistro

Maru Bistro is a Japanese restaurant using French techniques located in Leslieville, a neighbourhood in the east end of Toronto. Before I worked with them to create these beautiful photos, I had visited this restaurant multiple times. I enjoy the food, the casual ambiance, and the wonderful staff and I always look forward to coming back.

Brand

Another Day Shop, a collection of comfortable pajamas for kids and women, started by two Korean-Canadian moms.

Project

The founders of Another Day Shop needed lifestyle and product photos for their Spring and Summer 2022 collection featuring mothers and their kids.

Business branding: Sansa Interiors

The Sansa Interiors team needed business branding photos so we worked through my shoot planning process to make sure we get the most of our session.

Where do we start?

This is a common question and I recommend starting a mood board. Gather inspiration for style, colour, location, outfits, etc. and put it into one place, whether it’s a Pinterest board, in Google Drive, or a Notion page.

Remember that this is for visual inspiration and the goal is NOT to replicate them. We want to create images that represent you and your unique brand and personality.

Where do you recommend we do the photoshoot?

The location depends on the style you’re looking for. There are many studios you can book in the Greater Toronto Area now and some of them will often refresh the theme of their rooms based on the season.

For this branding session, we went to Mint Room Studios.
